Rohde & Schwarz Technology Symposium 2024

Andreas Pauly has been President and CTO of Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG since October 2023. After studying electrical engineering and information technology at Technical University Kaiserslautern, Andreas Pauly joined Rohde & Schwarz in April 1996 as a software developer in the Test & Measurement Division. In 2003, he qualified for his first management position as head of the baseband development lab. After holding further management positions, he took over as Vice President Signal Generators, Audio Analyzers and Power Meters in 2015. Two years later, he was appointed Executive Vice President of the Test & Measurement Division and member of the Corporate Management of Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG.

Yatish Mohan commenced his professional journey in 1980 as a Product Manager with M/s. Toshniwal Bros. (Delhi) Pvt. Ltd, after completing his studies in Electronics & Communication Engineering at the University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee). Following a brief tenure at M/s Philips India Limited, he transitioned to Rohde & Schwarz Liaison Office in 1990 as Sales Manager. In 1996, he advanced to the position of National Sales Manager, and in 2001, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Rohde & Schwarz India. Under his dynamic leadership, Rohde & Schwarz has significantly expanded its footprint across the country, offering comprehensive sales, applications, service, and research and development support. In just the span of two decades, Rohde & Schwarz has emerged as a leading player in India's test & measurement, secure communications, radio monitoring, and wireless communications sectors.

Patricio serves as the Vice President of Global T&M Sales and Market Segments at Rohde & Schwarz in Munich, with over 25 years of service to the company. He started his career as a Product Manager for Spectrum and Network Analyzers, and subsequently moved to the UK where he spearheaded the establishment of local Marketing and Technical Support, qualifying for his first management position. Returning to Germany, Patricio assumed the pivotal role of General Manager, leading the growth of T&M Sales within the German market and across Europe. He holds a Master of Engineering Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Technical University in Munich.

David Gonzalo is excellent in the field of Telecommunications Engineering that led him to complete his MSc at UPC in Barcelona. For the past 16 years, he had contributing his skills and expertise to renowned companies like HP, Agilent, and Keysight, where his into various facets of the industry. During his 7-year tenure at R&S, he challenges himself taking on roles as Test and Measurement (T&M) & Regional automotive Sales Manager. Starting from July 1st, 2023, he successfully took on the responsibility of Global Sales Senior Director for T&M in addition to Global Sales Director for Automotive in Barcelona, Spain.

Hemanth Satyanarayana, Founder and CEO of Imaginate, is a visionary MIT–TR35 Young Innovator Awardee, a TEDx Speaker and got featured in the book “Indian Innovators”. With expertise in immersive technologies since 2004, his early work included Augmented Reality-based liver surgery and Virtual Reality-based multi-user war training for the US Army. At Imaginate, Hemanth leads the development of a customizable metaverse platform for enterprises, securing top clients including Honeywell and a $1mn NSF grant for Emergency Responder Training using Mixed Reality.

Mr. Bibhu Sankar Sahu is the Technical Manager for Wurth Electronics Services India Pvt Ltd. He has 18 Years of experience in power electronics design, EMC testing & has been providing design solutions to customers. He is often involved in circuit review to qualify electronic products for various testing standards and has worked with products from different domains such as Industrial, Automotive, Medical & Consumer segment customers. Mr Sahu has presented more than 500 technical Seminars for design houses, electronic manufacturing services and technical professionals. In addition, he has also guest lectured for IIT Mumbai and ARAI academy for the EMI & EMC sessions.

Satish Thokala is Aerospace and Defense industry manager at MathWorks®. His area of expertise is Avionics systems design for both military and civil aircrafts. He has ~22 years of experience in teaching, public and private aerospace establishments including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Collins Aerospace. In the current role, he is responsible to analyze technology adoption in the aerospace and defense industry and develop strategies to enhance capabilities of MATLAB® and Simulink® to address the technology trends. Early in the career, Satish designed and developed V/UHF communication radios. Satish led large engineering groups developing Avionics and autonomous systems. Satish delivered talks in 30+ national and international conferences and co-authored a book on aircraft health management.

Deepak is a seasoned technical leader in the field of wireless communications with two decades of experience. He has been associated with MediaTek since 2016 and currently serves as a Sr. Technology & Regional Manager, overseeing the India market. In this role, he is part of MediaTek’s 'Wireless Systems & Partnerships' (WSP) team, which is responsible for carrier engagement across multiple regions. With special focus on 5G, Deepak is working closely with carriers towards roadmap alignment, feature evaluation, and joint trials to drive the technology adoption. He is well versed with global and regional information and keenly observes shifts in Cellular Technologies. He has represented MediaTek in various industry forums in the past and has contributed to several studies, feature promotions and whitepapers.

Prof. Mayank Shrivastava, a faculty at IISc Bengaluru and co-founder of AGNIT Semiconductors, leads a $60M GaN prototyping Fab and a national 2D materials technology hub. He earned his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay, receiving excellence and industrial impact awards. Notable accolades include Indian TR35 and IEEE EDS Early Career awards. He serves as an IEEE EDS Distinguished Lecturer and Editor of IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, with roles on the EDS Board of Governors. Recognitions include DST Swarnjayanti and Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation Fellowships, and VASVIK award. His research spans GaN, graphene, and TMDCs for electronic and electro-optic devices. With 230+ publications and 55 patents, his work influences semiconductor industry practices. He held visiting positions at Infineon and worked for Intel and IBM before joining IISc in 2013.

Dr. Thomas Nicolay has an educational background in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in RF communications. After receiving his PhD in RF Communications in 2002 he was leading the Research Institute for RF Engineering at Saarland University in Germany. He joined Rohde & Schwarz in March 2005 as Head of Software Engineering for Software Defined Radios in the Secure Communications Division. From 2006 until 2012 he was leading the development group for monitoring receivers at the Monitoring and Radio Location Division of Rohde & Schwarz. In 2012 he moved to the sales division and took over the role as Director Sales for monitoring and radio location solutions, first for Europe & America than in 2015 with global responsibility. This position was turned into VP Sales Government later on. Since 2018 he is the VP of the Marketsegment Aerospace & Defense Test. The market segment is the link between sales and development divisions and develops market strategies as well as consolidates inputs from the markets towards development.

Alexander Pabst is the Vice President of the Wireless Communications market segment. He is responsible for driving the strategic direction of the wireless technology product range at Rohde & Schwarz. He has more than 25 years of experience in the wireless industry in sales, business development and product management. Before his current role, he was Vice President of the systems group within the test & measurement division, launching a full range of 5G over-the-air test solutions globally.

Nasser Jariwala, serving as the Senior Director at Rohde & Schwarz India, heads the company's test and measurement equipment division in India. With over 30 years of experience, he's been a key figure in driving the company's growth in test and measurement equipment. Starting as an Account Manager, he rose through the ranks to lead the test and measurement equipment business vertical in 2015. His efforts have fostered partnerships with government agencies and tech firms, contributing to initiatives like Digital India and Make in India. He holds an Electronics Engineering degree and a post-graduation in Business Marketing from Mumbai University.

Varanasi Pavan Kumar, an accomplished individual with an MTech degree in Systems and Signal Processing, currently holds the position of Senior Manager & Head of Sales ICR (Industry Component & Research) division at Rohde & Schwarz India Pvt. Ltd. His expertise lies in being a Product Specialist for Signal Generators and Analyzers in the Test & Measurement domain. With an impressive 17 years of experience, Pavan has honed his skills in handling a wide array of RF & Microwave Test equipment, including Vector Signal Generators, Signal Analyzers, Network Analyzers, and Power Meters. Pavan’s professional journey extends beyond conventional test equipment. His proficiency spans diverse applications, such as Electronic Warfare (ELINT, COMINT), where he has successfully navigated intelligence and communication domains. Additionally, he is well-versed in the intricacies of the 5G NR Physical Layer and is actively engaged in exploring the emerging frontiers of the 6G Physical Layer. Pavan’s repertoire also includes Satellite Payload Testing—a critical aspect of ensuring robust satellite communication systems. Furthermore, he has hands-on experience with Radar Echo Simulators, contributing to the advancement of radar technology. Pavan Kumar’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his ability to seamlessly bridge theory and practical application make him an invaluable asset in the ever-evolving landscape of test and measurement.

Marwin Coutinho is with Rohde and Schwarz India since 2006 after doing his Bachelors of engineering from Mumbai University. He is product expert in Vector Network Analyzers, wireless mobile networking tools and customized end to end RF solutions. He is an accomplished Trainer having successfully qualified in the R&S qualification programs. In his current profile he leads an expert team responsible for development and integration of RF ATE Systems for various market segments & is a core member of RSINDIA ‘Make In India’ initiatives.

Mahesh Basavaraju is a Market Segment Manager, responsible for driving R&S market position for the Wireless Communication segment at Rohde & Schwarz. He is responsible for analyzing the current market and competitive situation as well as developing and implementing market and product strategy. He focuses on both cellular and non-cellular technologies and is active in conferences and workshops in the Asian region. Mahesh has over 19 years of experience in Test & Measurement and has previously served as an R&D Engineer at Nokia. His experience in working on both mobile device and network equipment testing has contributed to his comprehensive understanding of the wireless industry. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from Visveswaraya Technological University in India.
